Grouping and Tagging Issue - 2D

hi all,
I’m still learning sketch up as part of my online interior design course. I’m created a floor plan with ground floor and first floor, I’m up to adding in internal door openings and doors for the ground floor. However when I go to create the walls gaps for the internal walls, it deletes all my walls for the ground floor. I think it is a grouping and tagging issue. I somehow managed to draw in the door openings and doors for the first floor (I did this a while ago), but having said that, I’m not sure I’ve tagged and grouped my first floor the right way either. I also think it could be an issue with my floor as I can’t seem to find the tag of my floor (for both ground or first floor). Can anyone please help me? I would be so grateful, I’ve been stuck on this for some time now.

Thank you kindly in advance for some help.

You have some unneeded nesting of groups in your model. Take a look at Outliner. It’ll help you see that nesting.

You also have some loose geometry in with the lowest level group here. I moved that lowest level group to the side to show the other geometry.

In order to make the proper edits you have to burron in to the right level. You really don’t need all that nesting, though. At this stage none of the wall geometry should be nested at all.
I would delete the unneeded edges and explode the upper level groups. Then when you edit the wall group you’ll open it directly to the geometry so you can modify it for door openings and such.

There’s also some geometry that has been given tags. All geometry (edges and faces) should be created AND remain untagged. Only groups and components should be given tags.

BTW, I think you would find it useful if you give your groups logical names. Outliner is difficult to use when every object has the same name.

I made the changes I recommended to your file. I also purged unused content from it.

Thank you so very much Dave, I really, really appreciate this.. my tutor hasn’t even been this helpful. I’m considering completing an outside sketchup course as my institute’s material isn’t very good / lacks troubleshooting support. Thank you again Dave, I’m very grateful.
