Only if you update the style after making those changes.
It sounds like you’ve disabled that warning so you aren’t getting prompted to update the existing style or create a new one. The changes you made to the style won’t stick. Go to Preferences>General and tick the box for the warning.
Then try the whole process again. When it prompts you, choose Upodate the selected style.
Another way to update the style is to click on the large thumbnail at the top left of the Styles panel or on the circular arrow button the right side of the Styles panel. If you don’t update the style one way or another, your changes won’t stay.
