Geolocation mapping exporting to 3D with objects

I’ve built an object in SketchUp Pro and I’ve used the geolocation with background mapping in order to check the object spacing is appropriate, but I want to export only the objects and when I Export > 3D Model, it also exports the background mapping which I don’t want. I have deleted the geolocation and I think the background mapping, but it still exports several triangles despite this. Any hints as to how to only export the object to 3D?

Hard to determin how to solve this without knowing to which format you wan to export.

Have you checked the export options before you export to 3d?
Often/sometimes there is an option to “export only current selection”.

For example, export to 3ds, dae, options:

Did not see this feature for export to dwg or dxf unfortunately.

@TedVitale_SU Perhaps a couple of new options for the exporters, (greyed out if not geolocated):

Geolocate
Terrain mesh and textures

:white_question_mark: Probably could be reassigned to the SketchUp > Feature Requests category.

Hi,
We need to know more about the environment used to export the file, which SketchUp version? which file type? windows or mac? With that we can have a better chance to help.

Tiago, since these are the native exporters, the SketchUp version would be the future version where these new options are implemented.

The OP has SketchUp 2026 in their forum profile.

The OP is on Windows, but the proposed options should be available on both platforms, Mac and Windows.

The options should be available for all supported export filetypes.

From your request is fine @DanRathbun, that I understood. I was requesting the info to @sgell (not sure why the reply is not really doing their thing… but yeah, it missed the original post in my answer).

The OP is a new user who it seems has not been back to follow up.
@AnnoNiem also asked which filetype they wanted to export, but has yet to receive an answer.

Off topic:

The reply bug has been here for a few years now.

It’s still annoying and requires a workaround to get their attention. Either use the @ sign or use a quote..
