Gaussian Splats have arrived in SketchUp Labs!

What exact version of SU2026 are you using?
As I remember there was a second update of SU 2026 where others reported this issue. I think it is solved in the later updates.

You might try reinstalling Sketchup ( - perhaps download fresh/latest copy -) right click on the installer fileand Run as administrator) and select Repair if it is a same version you have installed.

Edit, found it
Here is a topik about it: After upgrading to version 26.1.257, all plugin signatures have become invalid!

Hi,

If you share the email you’re using to sign in by PM, I can check if there’s an entitlement issue.

Best,

Jacques

It appears that cropping with a rectangular bounding box is currently the only available tool to isolate parts of the splat.

I’d welcome some additional tools for removing unwanted splats.

Suggestion:

Maybe an eraser tool that could be wanded over unwanted ellipses when in model-display mode?

Hi,
I just released a new version, could you tell me if it works for you now ?

Hi, thank you for gaussian splatting plugin. Finally the department i work bought a sketchup subscription. I tried a gaussian splat i made using postshot. Render with sketchup ai.. I add a simple house drawing in the scene..

Hello, I have a problem importing .ply- files. They don’t appear in sketchup.

the smaple files doesn’t work as well.

what can I do?

Hi,
I’m sorry that it does not work for you.
Could you share with me:

  • your Sketchup version
  • your GS extension version
  • the error message if any
  • if you have a good/bad internet connexion ? a firewall ? (especially company ones)

Best,
YS

Hello Yohann,

thank you for your help

I am using Sketchup 26.1.256 64 Bit

GS Version 1.2026.0701

It appears a little window “rendering engine and splat database isn’t initialised correctly”

I am using ESET firewall, with a good connection

What can I do?

Could you update to the latest version, the error message should be a bit more helpful now.
If it still does not work, could you share with me the files in your %TEMP% folder files looking like this (GS_INIT_LOG.TXT, SU_SPLAT_INIT_FAILURE_*.txt (if any), GS_SHUTDOWN_LOG.TXT) and send them to me ? (%TEMP% folder is something like C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Local\Temp)

I haven’t been able to use Gaussian Splats in a while, and now I’m starting a new project and really need it—especially since Scan Essentials causes SketchUp to crash every time I try to open it.

I´ve been getting this message for weeks.

I have an stable internet connection, its not wireles, it´s connected directly with a 10gb cable. actually the generate splats is no more on the Add new drop down menu

Hi,
You’re using an old version of Trimble Labs which is not public. Currently we have an issue with the GS generation part and we suggest you to use third party methods for GS generation (see there https://help.sketchup.com/en/generating-gaussian-splats )
Best,
YS

there ist only a GS_INIT_LOG.TXT and a GS_INSTALLER_LOG.TXT

I have updated to the latest version

Can you share these file with me, either directly on the forum or through messages/mail (yohann_salaun@trimble.com)
Thanks

Sorry I asked you for the wrong file, do you have a file that looks like SU_SPLAT_LOG_ inside your temp folder ? (You need to open sketchup and try to load a sample splat first)
The files that you shared with me show no issue.
Btw, next time you can drag & drop the txt file on the forum post instead of pasting the full text inside the file.
Best,
YS

SU_SPLAT_LOG_20260812_094112.txt (16.2 KB)

OK. this was the first time, that the example file worked.

importing my scaniverse file doesn’t work:

That log says you aren’t using a Gaussian splat, that you’ve loaded a point cloud.I get a message that also tells me that if I open it in supersplat or other viewers expecting GS data.

This is what somebody told you 8 days ago on the sketchucation forums also

Gaussian Splat | sketchucation

You need to revisit your scaniverse export settings

If you go to the raw data

there is an option to reprocess the raw data as either mesh or gaussian splat.

I’m guessing you have done a mesh originally and the point cloud has come from that.

Hi,
Good news is that the GS extension is working well for you. I could load your file inside SketchUp but using Scan Essentials because it contains a point cloud. (see screenshot)
Ply files are really tricky, they can contain meshes, point clouds, gaussian splatting and probably other kind of things as well. In the latest version, there is now a message that asks you if the document really contains a gaussian splatting.
Other test you can do when you have an issue is to use another splat viewer (e.g. SuperSplat Editor) and check if it works,
Best
YS

how did you manage to import it?

He didn’t , it’s not a gaussian splat.

It’s a point cloud. They’ve used a point cloud reader (scan essentials)

My solution for you is above
