Flip tool leaving geometry behind

Does anyone else experience the flip tool leaving geometry behind after the flip? I often find myself flipping things during the early stages of design when I am drawings rough conceptual floorpans. During this stage the geometry is raw and ungrouped and intended to be that way. When selecting and flipping, the action itself works but it leaves itself behind as well which is rather annoying. I might as well just erase it and redraw instead of using the tool.

Toggling the option key doesnt change the result.

Thoughts?

if you just flip, it flips
if you press option (or ctrl on PC) it flips and copies.

looks like you copied… it won’t copy + flip otherwise

This is odd. Do you see any change at the cursor when toggling the option key? Does it toggle the + sign on / off indicating that you will flip a selection, leaving the original / only flip the geometry (no geometry left behind). Does the option key work properly with other tools (for instance the ‘Move’ tool)?

I think you’ll find it is simply the way it has to be when using raw geometry that is connected to other raw geometry. If it actually flipped it it would potentially twist the rest of the geometry.
As you see here, the same two edges behave differently when connected and separate.

If the geometry can flip without tearing the rest of the geometry it will.

Would be nice if that wasn’t the case though. Perhaps a future change…
