Files Too Large for sending via email

I keep getting Layout files that are huge. I’m using vector or raster. I’ve used “cleanup” to remove edges, etc. I have purged components, etc. in Sketchup. I have purged in Layout. Just my simple adu floor plan sheet itself is 54.0 mb!
Any assistance would be appreciated. Thx.

No one is able to express an opinion unless you share the file.

I agree with @Anssi. We could probably help you if you shared the LayOut file with us.

How large are the textures in your model? Use Material Resizer plugin to see and reduce them. Especially if you have lots of stuff from the warehouse.

Post your file to DropBox or similar and share a link here so we can see what’s going on.

Tried to upload but the file is too big - 104 mb

Upload it to DropBox or WeTransfer and share the link. If it has client contact information send it to one of us privately.

OK. I had a look at your files. The key “offenders” regarding file size both for the .skp and the .pdf are a couple of high res images that just don’t need to be that large. First, the bathtub image:

Note the image has a resolution of 300 ppi. LayOut won’t display images over 96 ppi. Reducing the resolution and also reducing the overall size to match the size it’ll be in the document reduced that file size dramatically. I noted that you had drawn a filled rectangle over the upper part of the image. I cropped it in the image editor and removed the rectangle mask.

FWIW, resizing the image as I did here also means the image will come into LayOut at the size it needs to be. No need to resize it within LO.

The logo image is similarly huge. I reduced it in the same way.

The following affects the file size in LayOut however I don’t think it has a significant effect if any on the exported PDFs file size.

The details .skp file is quite bloated with unused stuff.

That reduced the .skp file size by nearly 65%. This reduction would carry over into LayOut.

I also noticed incorrect tag usage in that .skp file as well as one of the other .skp files.

ALL edges and faces should be created and remain untagged.

I checked for excessively large textures in your models but there aren’t any. As @bmike indicated, though, that can be a source of file bloat so it’s good to keep that under control.

Although the styles in your models don’t have a huge impact on file size, I expect you really have more styles than you need. Most of them look to be identical and you could reduce the number you have. That would make model management easier.

So when I got finished doing what I did, I saved a new version of the LO file. It is less than 74 Mb and I exported a PDF with viewport and image output resolution set to High and wound up with a 13.9 Mb file.

I’ll upload the files to DropBox and send you a link in a PM shortly. I don’t have the font you used for at least some of the text on my computer so the PDF won’t be right.
