File opening fails

I recently had HD partition problem so before I reinstalled my windows 10 I recovered some of my Sketchup files. Now when I am trying to open it fails to recognize it. Can anyone help please? This is my whole home design for several years.

Does this mean you used some file recovery utility? If so, they often result in fatally corrupted files. Share one of the problem files with us so we can see what you have and if there’s any chance of fixing it.

You are still using SketchUp 2022 with your subscription? Have you been saving backups to Trimble Connect?

I didn’t save backups to Trimble Connect.

I used recommended file recovery utility “EaseUS Data Recovery”.

Is your SketchUp version cr acked?

The file you shared is missing about 60% of the data and most of what is there is trash. There’s no way to recover anything from that file.

Who recommended it? It wasn’t successful at recovering the SketchUp file you shared.

I learned my lesson about keeping data file on OS partition. I was using different backups but didn’t realize that Sketchup using C:\ProgramData\SketchUp folder as default location for designs which is not automatically picked up by Windows backups

It’s not supposed to save your SketchUp files in ProgramData. The default in a properly installed version of SketchUp is Documents. Perhaps you are seeing this weird thing due to the cr ack?

My documents folder was backed up

No, because my files where in C:\ProgramData\SkechUp folder

They shouldn’t have been saved there. It sounds like a bad setup on your end. If none of your files will open I would expect they have the same issues as the one you shared.

Going forward get a legit subscription, update SketchUp and make sure that you’ve set up Documents as the default save location for your models. Also save backups to Trimble Connect so you have something to fall back on if needed.
