Are you using the free web version of SketchUp as your profile indicates?
I tried to use in web version but get similar feedback as - files not found or invalid
What version are you really using, though?
i have sketchup 2021 now, but i used making this model in 2018 sketchup
As with other cases the scene is empty. There are a lot of materials and components in the recovered file:
how to retrieve the model, I am seeing the scene to be empty.
There are a few component as Colin wrote. You can bring those in from the components panel. From what I saw in your model there’s a ladder and some prayer flags as components and that’s all. There are a lot of materials but they aren’t attached to anything. Unfortunately any loose geometry or groups appear to have been lost.
You need to expand the components to see other components (even then there are not a lot, but as the file size is close to the original, I’m hoping that most loose geometry is inside components). The ladder was made by @MikeWayzovski.
Hi Colin,
I can’t open my file. Can you please help me to recover it?
Thanks!
Had some troubles with the file. In addition to having an empty scene and only recovering some components and materials, the file still had problems in SketchUp 2021. I saved it as a 2020 file:
0612_Amgen kantoor_DG_recovered_2020.skp (13.0 MB)
Hi Colin,
I’m also having some issues opening a couple of files. It says “file not found or invalid”
any help would be appreciated!
the file:
Transfer - Dropbox
That appears to be a SketchUp 8 file, and it opens ok for me. I saved it out was a new file.
corna chair recovered.skp (1.8 MB)
It opened fine for me, as well. It would make sense to move it closer to the origin. Being positioned as it is more than half a mile from the origin can create problems for you.
thank you so much!
No problem. And make sure to check out Dave’s advice.
Hi would really appreciate some help! I have been recently been working on a project and when i went to open it SketchUp is now saying ‘invalid file’
I have been saving to a External hard drive but have never encountered this issue before. there doesn’t appear to be any backup file within the folder in which the project is saved
The link to the file can be found below
Unfortunately, I couldn’t recover anything useful from your file. The file is only 3 MB, do you see an .skb version of the file that is bigger?
