@post3 I pulled your comment over into this thread in hopes that we might be able to go a bit deeper into the feedback you offered.
Could you elaborate a bit about the point regarding “straight lines like in morpholio trace”?
Are you referring to the grid overlay that they offer for tracing over a photo or 3D model?
Your point about taking pictures and connecting them to the drawing – do you mean that you want to apply photos of a space as a texture to surfaces in the model (because you have the option to do that in SU for iPad now) – or are you describing something akin to adding a comment bubble in the model that includes an attached photo?
How do you imagine you’d want to incorporate a BT enabled disto into the Scan workflow?
Markup tool uses the Apple OS drawing tools, like the tools that appears when you take a screenshot. With these tools you could use the ruler in order to draw a straight line. While I like procreate “hold in a point” shortcut to draw a quick line it’s up to Apple to eventually implement it.
Current on-device lidar sensor is not so much accurate (yet), but it goes very close.
At the moment, to achieve a precise wise survey model, you could take note of the measurement taken with a laser and adapt/modify the scanned lidar sketchup model.
I suggest you to modify the RoomPlan generated model, as it has cleaner geometry.
Adding pictures to Markups is an interesting request, but I would bounce it in Trimble Connect maybe?

…or up to sketchup to do it by themself like procreate and really make a difference…

very good summary…

very good idea as well…or sketchup implements bt disto measurements like magicplan or bosch and makes another difference…

yes, and if neccescary sell extra cloud space for storage…this could make sketchup ipad together with some other little adjustments a full scale construction site tool, like trimble always wants it… !?
I’m reopening this post just to thank you for the analysis and ask for confirmation. I recently bought an iPad Pro with a lidar sensor and tried the SketchUp scan to design application. Can you confirm that the measurements are wrong by 3,4,5 cm and that the tool is not yet ready for an architectural survey of the rooms? If this were the case, I think it would be really useful if there was the possibility of working on the result with proposed tools similar to magicplan…
