Right after you tag a group or component you must click to apply the new tag to the number of components or groups that share the same tag. How can you be sure the tag(s) is/are applied to the right place(s), if you immediately go back to drawing?
That the focus should return to the model space once enter is pressed has been a long long standing request. When entering tag names, circle segments, and other text inputs in pallets. It would be nice.
How long does it take you to make one click?
when you hit return it completes the action, but then you must click on the drawing, most times i am applying the tag then hit return to complete the autofill. then i hit a hot key for a tool. then it changes the tag name to that hot key.
its about brain and workflow. if i hit return and then a hotkey for a tool it renames the tag layer. then i have to go back and retag.
Yes. This has been a problem forever. I have so many instances of tags named m and q …
Although I have never programmed for it, I think this is a behavior of the Apple Cocoa GUI that the SketchUp developers didn’t work around. At this point since they are reportedly working to port the SketchUp GUI to Qt on Mac to align it with the Windows one, I doubt they will bother.
I also suffer with it in Sketchup Outliner and Layout Pages as well.
Funny thing with LO page names it happens easily after picking a page & then issuing a hotkey command, but if I want to change the page name it seems I have to click the right number of times in exactly the right place… Fingers crossed for 2025 improvements.
