Feature or extension (plug-in) for layout customization

Im in my early year of using sketchup and wondering if there is any existing feature or supporting plug-in that can help me creating model layout similarly just like in the picture? Feature thatd allows you to easily separate part of the models without having to rely on the use of group or layer. Thank you in advance!

If you aren’t going to use groups/components for the different parts of the model you will have to model them so they do not touch. Tags in SketchUp (there are no layers) do not prevent geometry from merging so you wouldn’t be able to separate the elements in the model as you show.. You need to make groups or components for that.

Doing what you show with the native Move tool is easy enough but there’s at least one extension (Eclate Deplace) that can make exploded views by moving the groups/components away from each other.

Aahh yeah i meant the tag feature… i will try to experience with the the extension first. I think i accidentally put myself in a weird position for using the group feature in a wrong way, because instead of grouping them by level i decided to just straight up grouping them by their type. Thank you Dave :star_struck:

It’s definitely a good idea to think ahead to the way you need to use the model. Group things in logical ways. Perhaps a group of the walls for an entire floor is the way to go. Also give tags to the groups/components in the model and collect those tags into tag folders. This will make your model easier to manage.

BTW, make sure you leave Untagged active at all times and leave all edges and faces untagged. Tags are only given to groups and components.

Oh, and you’re quite welcome.
