I need urgent help. My model I had open yesterday is nor failing to open. I have tried everything, using the back up file, cleaning out the temp folder, looking for autorecover files (there are none). I have worked hours on this model and would at least need to retrieve an older version. Thank you

Post a link to the file on a file-sharing service. Where did you have it stored, local drive or cloud?
It won’t let me upload the file as it’s too big. I have ever used these forums. How do I get it up here?
Upload the file to DropBox and share the link.
I have it saved on google drive.
Share that link then.
If you’ve been working on it while it was saved to Google Drive, that’s probably why it’s corrupted. Not likely to be recoverable but we can look at it to see for sure.
You have to make the file available to us.
Lots of others have said the same thing but it still happens pretty frequently.

I already renamed the back up file and tried that. I also copied the file to my desktop and tried open it from there. i restarted my pc, updated everything. looked for autorecover files…
So you shared the backup copy. Can you share the .skp file, too?
I have it stored on the googel drive, but I also make the available locally, so it’s saved locally on my harddrive in google drive. if that makes sense or makes a difference?
I keep getting the failed to open message every time whichever file I try to open… can you send me a link to the one you just opened??..
I cleaned up the model. Fixed incorrect tag usage and reduced the size of the excessively large textures. I also removed the environment image which was bloating the model.
Going forward make sure you are saving the model to a truly internal drive location.
Your profile says you have SketchUp 2026 so you must have a subscription. That gives you unlimited storage on Trimble Connect. Regularly save backups to Trimble Connect.
