Face Turned Green?

Hello Sketchup Friends,

This was a new one for me. I have a file a student sent to me (See attached). It has a face that is green. I have tried to delete the lines that create the green faces but they seem to be invisible. How do I fix this?

Thanks for your time and efforts!

I do not see a green face in your model.

I see the ground (green) and the sky (blue). These can be adjusted in the Styles Window.

If there is a green face, can you pinpoint it using the Text tool, for example?

Is it just one or a couple of faces or is it the entire thing? It would all be displayed with green faces if the style is set to Hidden Line because that’s the background color.

Is this a project for 3D printing? It may be problematic due to the numerous “bow-tie” situations shown circled here. Not sure if the slicer you use will be able to manage them.

I do see the “Bow Ties” you mentioned. Here is the green face I see on my end:

OK. I see it now although it doesn’t appear green. Double click on the face with Select entile you can actually highlight the face. Press Delete. There’ll be two edges left farther inside double click on one of them until you get it highlighted and you can delete it.

The issue stems from multiple levels of nested groups and the geometry being in different levels.

Best would really be to explode all of the groups and then remake a single group not including the 3D Text. The student can then select the group of their geometry and the 3D Text component and make one group. There’s no need for more group levels.

Here’s the model with that face geometry removed. I’ve also removed the unneeded group levels and did some other cleanup.
