Exterior Dimensions using Geo-Location

How do you obtain the exterior dimensions of a building using Geo-Location

I assume you mean you’ve used Get Location and have an image from Google Maps in your Sketchup model. Is that correct? If so, you can use the tape Measure tool to measure on the image or you could just draw lines with the Line tool and note their length.

Google Maps uses satellite images that are mostly quite coarse so you shouldn’t trust the accuracy of any dimensions you derive from them. Usually even the survey maps you can obtain from your local community or survey service aren’t accurate enough to base a model on if you need anything else than a quick entourage. A tape or laser measure or a measuring service is still the way to get accurate measurements.

I understand that the dimensions obtain from Google Earth are not exact but
they are close enough for my needs.
