Extensions / methods for combining floorplans & elevations into a 3D model?

I often have to create a “white box” model for space planning, based on floorplans and elevations. The manual method is relatively time-consuming and annoying… are there any extensions that will simplify or automate this process?

Right now, I’m taking the CAD with all the views, rotating the elevation, aligning it to the floorplan, and manually tracing and extruding things to create the 3D elements. It’s especially annoying when the outer wall is not straight, so I have to have multiple copies of the elevation situated at different “depths”:

There has GOT to be a better way… any advice?

You might well find it easier to start from the ground and upper floor plans.

Extrude the walls up one storey at a time. Use the plan and elevations as a reference for inferencing the location of windows and doors on each outside wall. Cut openings for the windows with the PushPull tool.

Then add a top ceiling and roof outlines, again based on inferencing from the plan and elevations.

Others with more experience of house design may have better ideas, but I hope these might help a bit.
