Hey there.
Is there any plugin to show the current slope of any selected face? For example i want to see the slope percentage of this road model partially.
Any suggestion will be great.
Thanks
āangular dimensionā was another good plugin, but last time I tried that I think it lost compatability with later SU versions
in addition, I think SU should have some quick shortcut modifier to the tape measure or protractor to quickly see angle from horizontal axes, or perhaps which ever plane is chosen⦠always been surprised this hasnāt been dealt with in house
The current version of Angular Dimension 2 works just fine in SketchUp 2026.

The deprecated Angular Dimension was last updated in 2018.
Neither of them would give slope as a percentage however.
Thanks for your suggestion i tried both except 5D+ because cant find the free trial.
My problem is a bit more complicated because of my model has made with sandboxes which includes hidden geometries like these.
Slope Marker is working good but it gives a seperated slope for each triangle.
I need average of all traingles at once.
That makes sense since they are at different slopes.
You should have added that information in your original post.
So you want an extension that determines the slope of every edge on a surface and outputs the average? I donāt know of an extension to do that but maybe you could get AI to write one for you. With a surface like you now show, thereās a lot for an extension to do. Iād guess this would be one of those extensions that you set running before you go to bed and let it churn all night.
If it were me I would pick maybe three edges and find their slopes and average them.
Yes you are right.
I will try that, thanks again. ![]()
For the real slope of any face (nothing with Red or Green axis involved) you may best make use of face.normal and the angle between its direction and the vertical direction.
To illustrate this:
Ai should ābe ableā to help you to create a tool that lets you hover over and click on subsequent faces to show you the angles (and percentages if needed).
I tried to give this topic for AI and it made this extension. It gives average slopes for three different directions from selected faces.
Just select faces you want to include, hit the tool and give major direction and it works like that.

Yeah, this is definitely a job for an AI built extension.
In one reply here OP shares (2) screenshots: one without hidden geometry shown and another with, so we can see why a plugin isnāt practical, because it doesnāt give the average of all the faces that makeup that āsingle oneā where the geometry is hidden.
Vertex Tools has an option āMake planerā, which moves the selected vertices to the best fit plane.
I would take inspiration from this and have the AI generated extension add a similar ābest fit planeā step to selected faces, and derive the grade/slope of the best fit plane, rather than averaging. I say this because if one of the faces has an area that is 5x larger than its neighboring ones the āaverageā wonāt apply a weight to it, and in this type of instance it should.
The larger faces should influence the calculated slope/grade more than the smaller ones.
EDIT: it may not be a bad idea to ask the extension to ādrawā the best fit plane as an object so the user can do a little QA/QC on the fly.
Didnāt Fredo6 make a plugin about grading roads a few month (years?) back ?
edit : found it
would it do the trick ?
One more out of the box thought: make a copy of the object, and run it through Skimp or something like that to simplify the number of faces and then apply the Slope Makers to the simplified faces?
PS: and then hide the simplified version on a tag.
Weāre close, gang, I can feel it.
If I recall this is performing a slope analysis of a line entity, which in the screenshot you show is the roadway centerline.

Thanks for all replies and codework guys.
Fredo did it again ![]()
It works perfect but i need to find a way to define road centerlines easily for it.
Any suggestion for it?
Go through @mihai.s posts. IIRC he had a video about finding / generating centerlines. He may have written a short script to help.
I think he even did a plugin but was waiting to upload it to the warehouse
I found ms C2C Line 2P - v1.0.1 at warehouse.
I think mixing all these topics together will give me the exact soluiton thanks all folks.
have you tried nz_Gradients&Driveways
