Many of you know me here from the forum, which I have been attending for many years, but you don’t know what I do.
Well, I’m an architect and architectural design teacher in southern Brazil. One of my academic activities has to do with Sketchup: the Exemplary Architectures website. This site houses architectural models that I consider exemplary, all modeled with Sketchup + LayOut.
The idea is that students and everyone interested in architecture can have access to good examples of contemporary and past architecture and that they can study them in detail. Our models are very detailed and are organized to allow parts of them to be isolated for study.
I am the author of 40% of the models, the rest being made by students who are part of my research group. One of the criteria for choosing the works we model, in addition to being architecture from which you can learn, is that the complete project is available.
One of the problems encountered in this activity is that few architects agree to share their drawings with us. An exceptional case is the Spanish architect Alberto Campo Baeza, who makes all his work available on his website.
And, before I forget, the models are available for download for free. All you have to do is ask for them on the site. So far I have received almost 8000 download requests, coming from 910 universities, in 106 countries.
I hope you visit the site and enjoy it.
