We’ve encountered a recurring issue with the new ‘Environments’ function in SketchUp. When we adjust settings such as sun location and HDRI brightness within the Environment panel, and then save these changes in a scene, everything displays correctly during that session.
However, once the file is closed and reopened — or shared with colleagues on other machines — the visual result no longer reflects the saved settings. The sun and HDRI environment settings appear to revert or reset, and the rendered scene no longer looks as intended.
We are using only SketchUp’s native HDRIs and do not involve V-Ray or external assets. This seems to be a limitation or bug in how environment settings are (not) saved or recalled with scenes and file transfers.
This function holds great potential, but at the moment it’s unreliable for collaborative work or consistent presentation.
Could this be reviewed and addressed in a future update?
