I am new to sketchup and since I last opened my file, i am unable to update entity info. There were previously circular arrows I could click on to update the scene I created. Is this a bug?

Scenes are very easy to go wrong with so maybe, maybe not.
It sounds like you are looking at the wrong panel. Entity Info does not display circular arrows. The circular arrows are displayed over the thumbnail for the selected style if the style has been modified but not yet updated. Scenes are updated in the Scenes panel, not in Entity Info.
