Ensuring All Components are Considered in Open Cut List Plugin

Hello everyone,

I’ve been working on several woodworking projects in SketchUp where I use numerous components. Often, I duplicate, modify, and even cut out parts of these components, which results in a large collection of both modified and original pieces.

The issue I’m encountering is that when I run the Open Cut List plugin to generate a cutting layout for my workshop, some components are being omitted from the list. It appears that components that have been altered by subtracting other components or have been edited through solid operations aren’t always recognized as valid parts in the cut list.

Is there a method or a tool within SketchUp to ensure that all parts, including those created through subtractive processes or modifications, are recognized as components? Ideally, I’d like to have a clear overview of all components so I can verify that everything is accounted for before moving to the workshop. Any insights or best practices would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

are you using the native solid tools ?

if so, the result of a solid tools operation is a group. not a component.

Yes, I am using the native solid tools, so every time after cutting I have to manually create a new component. With a larger number of parts, I sometimes lose track, and Open Cut List only considers components when planning the cutting layout, 3D views, etc.

Use Eneroth Solid Tools or Bool Tools 2 instead. They both leave components as components.
