Breakfast on the train

This is actually the first time a train is on the bridge, albeit it’s just for snapping some photos. The tracks and electrics are not glued in and installed yet but I just needed to see it.

I don’t know which is more frightening: seeing a train when you are on the middle of a bridge, or seeing a gigantic bowl of cereal that’s 5x bigger than a train on the bridge when you’re on that same train bridge.

Best weights I’ve ever had! These were given to me then my model railroad club was cleaning. Now they are put to good use again

I can’t think of more appropriate weights…

Throwback Tuesday. Photos from when I made the wall hanging of my main model railroad 2 years ago.

I may have asked you this before… do you do your own laser cutting? I’m in a quandry about that now since both of the sources I’ve been using, both live in Asheville, North Carolina and both have been adversely affected by the massive flooding they had from the hurricane. I’d love to have my own cutter, but they’re still expensive (even the solid state ones) and they require ventilation which is more expense.

I joined a maker space here in town and use their laser cutter. Don’t have space for one at home

I had one for a couple years, despite not having the space at home. and you’re correct.
it’s not just space, it’s noise, smoke, smell. and constant maintenance.

I can’t even be bothered to maintain a 2D printer :smiling_face_with_tear::upside_down_face:

2D printers are the hardest things to keep going!! I find my 3D printer much easier, it almost always works…

Long time no post. Here’s the pylon progression, from plywood through filler and base coat towards color variation and weathering. It’s a bit of extra work to interrupt the progress in this staggered fashion so I can compare them side by side but I’m planning to write an article for a model railroading magazine and wanted these photos!
