DWG Import stuck on spinning wheel on Status and can't force stop it

I am trying to import a CAD plan and it’s stuck on the spinning wheel in status. I can’t force stop it to refresh and try again so each time I try it just adds another wheel - any suggestions. I have gone back and tried to clean up the drawing to make sure there is nothing odd in there.

What version of SketchUp are you really using? Your forum profile shows SketchUp for Web (Free only) which doesn’t allow .dwg import and 2025 Desktop which does but doesn’t have the UI you show in your screenshot.

Share the ,dwg so we can check it to see what’s going on.

It’s all happening in the trimble machine somewhere

Depending on how busy they are it will happen when it can, otherwise it will fail. You’ll just have to keep checking.

it’s the online version but I pay something so I can import CAD. I have done it lots before but this DWG just seems to be hanging and then each time I try again it adds another so I think it’s just compounding the issue. How do I attach/share the drawing? It’s a very simple plan really. I exploded the hell out of it to try and make sure there were no funny objects in there from the architect

So not SketchUp Free but SketchUp Go. And not 2025 Desktop. Please correct your forum profile.

As Adam said, you have to wait for the Trimble computer to create the file for you. Certainly adding more copies does compound the issue. Maybe stop doing that.

Is this what you are expecting to see?

It imported in less than 5 seconds on the desktop version.

yep, that’s it. I know. it’s not a complicated drawing so I didn’t expect it to take long. Is there a way to force stop the current imports?

I don’t think so. You could just close that window.

Here’s the file.

Please fix your forum profile.

Apologies, I do not even know where to look to find out which version I am using that’s why I put the wrong version. I also have no idea how to update my profile on here

Since you are using the paid web version you have a SketchUp Go license and you are using the web version, not the desktop version.

Click on the R in the green circle at the top right of the forum page. Click on the person icon, then Preferences, then Profile. Put in the correct information and scroll to the bottom of the page to click on the Save button.

many thanks for this. Managed to open that no problem. Much appreciated.
