DWG export - "Non-uniformly scaled block reference" problem

Exporting pretty much anything from Sketchup (2025) into DWG format results in a drawing that can be opened in AutoCAD, but it’s impossible to get dimensions.

What am I doing wrong and how can I fix this issue?

Even exploding everything down to general geometry (so there’s no issue with component scaling etc), doesn’t help.

Do you still get the same error message? That would indicate that everything is not exploded. Making the components unique and using the “Scale definition” feature could also help.

Are all Osnaps turned off in AutoCad?

Can you post the model and/or the DWG you exported?

So apparently even though I had the “box” exploded, there were a couple of decor items that were not exploded (because they’re very complicated and I didn’t want 1000s of polygons slowing down the model). It seems that this “poisons” the model with this “undimensionable” issue.

Master Bathroom - Shelving Unit - taller version - 2025-06-20.skp (3.9 MB)

Master Bathroom - Shelving Unit - taller version - 2025-06-20.dwg (8.3 MB)

This is the DWG result after exploding everything even the individual curves:

Master Bathroom - Shelving Unit - taller version - 2025-06-20 - dimensions test.dwg (14.9 MB)

Now I have a different issue - it’s not the same error message but I still can’t get dimensions. No matter what I click on, it just keeps asking to specify things.

The real issue is, I have dozens of complicated Sketchup models that I need to constantly provide to fabricators, as we make adjustments and iterations, and I can’t always explode entire sets of cabinetry down to basic geometry and then be unable to reassemble them. So this is a theoretical workaround at best. Is there a method that RELIABLY exports things from Sketchup to AutoCAD without any weirdness? I’m OK with paying for an extension even.
