Drawing onto a jpeg

Im trying to add some boxes onto a plan view of a room to donate a stage riser positions.

I have imported the jpeg and scaled it but I can only see the boxes I’ve added in x-ray mode.

I want to be able to add the boxes on top of the jpeg and the export as a 2D image once everything is in place. Is this possible?

Yes it is possible. It is just a matter of where you place the boxes in 3D space relative to where you placed the image. From what you describe, you placed them below or behind the image.

How did you import the JPG? If you import it as an image onto the ground plane, you should be able to draw whatever you need on top of it.

So how can I place them on top?

So far I have gone to import, imported a jpeg of the pdf I want to edit and resized it to scale.

However everything I draw is underneath it. I am working in the plan view and have not extended anything to the 3D plane.

Can you post a screenshot or example model?

I have just started again and now I am able to draw on top of the jpeg.

Thanks

Try orbiting out of plan view to get a look at where things are located in 3D space. SketchUp is a 3D modeling app, and sometimes viewing directly along one axis, particularly in parallel projection, can mislead you about where things are located.
