The issue of these drivers showing up has me wrapped around the axial. I still see some out standing updates as noted here Downloaded Issues - #56 by mac7595 even though your info is all updates made. Can you re-post the service tag number and then other one off the bottom name plate maybe I have typo?
Is the conclusion the SU crash signature after using the DELL disk is now different?
Did you copy your SU 8 plugins into the new SU2015? That should not be done if you did or planning to?
Is the NVIDA report you ref from the windows event viewer.
Open Windows explorer and in view change selection so there are no hidden views in its view settings. Then do a global wild card serach for catalysts control center, CCC,ATI, NVIDA
If you find ATI of NVIDA CCC delete them, not the Intel if found? The CCC is the control panel for the drivers?
Does the DELL disk you have just drivers, utilities etc of does it also have the Windows OS on it/
Did you do a subsequent windows update??
I did as you said and searched in explorer for first “ccc” and found that only associated with dell / intel.
Second I did a search for ATI and even those found seemed to be assiciated with intel drivers
Last I searched for “Nvidia” and this I think may be associated with my problems?? I’m adding a screen capture:
In the image you can see I underlined what I think is a report (?) indicating that SU is attempting to search for nvidia drivers and particularly opengl (I think?) Notice the time indicated and that concurs with the last attempt by me to open SU. The image you see is the result of me searching for nvidia set for just today. Earlier searches for the same provided more references and the top 3 were references to the Nvidia program etc. I clicked on them to see the details and found that it was just the folder - empty of data. I believe I removed Nvidia from my system about a month back (or less?) after talking to my comp tech as to what it was. He told me it refers to a graphics card and that I didn’t have that type but instead intel so I deleted it (removed).
Also, a while back (not sure when) I went to the SU community support page and searched for “program won’t run” or something of that nature and I found the topic concerning this: Nvidia OpenGL drivers loses connection due to time-out, crashes Apparently there was an issue with another who dealt with this same problem. As to whether that is my problem is but a guess on my part but seeing the “reports” (pic) shown I have to think perhaps that is my problem too?
The only disk I ran (loaded) was for drivers only. I have a separate disk for Win7 operating system which I didn’t fool with.
Also, when I did a search in explorer using all the criteria > ATI, CCC, NVIDIA = it returned nothing. I just thought it may help to pin point 1 or 2 files but it didn’t.
ARG! what the forum posted vs what I type not the same. I was trying global wild card search. So each are encased in * xxx* and search dnone seperatley for each of ATI, CCC, NVIDA trying to find possible location so some things can be deleted.
Ref 1 - Go to C: drive (or whatever drive you use in tht matter) inside C: drive there is hidden folder called ProgramData go inside this folder and you will see ATI folder delete ATI folder. (programdata folder is hidden so you have to change your folder view options to show hidden folders)
2 - Go to C:\Users\yourwindowsuser\AppData\Local (change yourwindowsuser with your admin account name that you use when you login windows) there you will see another ATI folder just delete it.
3- Reboot your computer and login your admin account. Everything will start fine. CCC will work fine but all your previous profiles gone.
For each graphics installed there is a corresponding Catalyst Control Cetner Installed, that was shown in the video I asked you to watch here Downloaded Issues - #31 by mac7595 at the very bottom and the file SU splatted on is installed as part of the CCC.exe that installs that control center.
FYI here is what I think your tech had to do to replace HD. Once he installed the HD ( which included formatting, so it was void of any data) he either had to get disk form DELL with your supplied key so he could download and install the OS or down load an image file of it and burn a disk for his use is probably what he did, but still would require your key. He would also have to get drivers form DELL since you did not give him any disk.
Sorry for long dissertation but part of solution is to remove the graphic files installed except for the INTEL CCC.
There is still open question ref have you up dated Windows and why I still see some things needing up date ( You need to read instructions on how to do that because in some case they recommend order and some cases there are two files doing the same thing etither a MS msi or exe and install is a little different.
BTYW you need to learn how to scale your screen shots so we can see all the data not just some.
Can you make a scree shot of the driver disk file tree so we can see what you are installing?
I have to ask this question too: Why is SU looking for Nvidia drivers or related items seemingly on the net? (if that is the case?)
I did find this also but I’m not sure what to think of it? It is part of my original software (I think) and it has the “dell” name associated with it but I don’t see an Intel HD association?
And does this have a relevence?
In this screen cap. I see “amd” a lot. Does this indicate I have an AMD HD? or what?
IMHO yes, in windows 7 I think it was MS started using what they called libraries. There are special folders, douments, pictires and couple others, don’t rember names now where they will save files, depends on user profiles also. Suggest you read up on that. So there is basically one place where the file is stored and then other places just link to that . The idea is to make the large hard drive storage easier manage vs how it was. If you delete the link the data is not removed.
Windows 7 is set up to handle AMD processor so that does not mean you have a AMD HD. Note one is the link the other is the actual location, IMHO I would delete both. The location shows in the PICS you posted. Note the different dates in your PICS.2010, vs 2015.
Just to be sure and I’m certain: You are talking about deleting as follows= ATI installer + ATI catalyst installer + ATI (link to internet) = just about anything related to ATI / program + ATI / drivers ?? I see them scattered down a long list once i searched using only “ATI”
Sorry - I didn’t read the first reply you posted = only read the last. I’ll go over it and get back with you if I need assistance ??
- It would be a good idea to make restore point before you do any thing. Look for any read me files in that directory.;
- Failure signature still the same?;
- Have you checked to see if a un-install capability since you re-installed drivers. Note your PIC above shows installsheild@studio 9.0. There maybe a uninstall app in that director shown and would be better to use vs just deleting files or better yet if in the add / remove programs
- Is the search using “ATI” typo or did you mean * ATI *?. The star is a wild card.

Ref 1 - Go to C: drive (or whatever drive you use in tht matter) inside C: drive there is hidden folder called ProgramData go inside this folder and you will see ATI folder delete ATI folder. (programdata folder is hidden so you have to change your folder view options to show hidden folders)

In an attempt to carry out your 1st request I did as you stated BUT there was NO ATI folder there at all. I even made “ProgramData” so I could change anything in it by “unclicking” the “read only” box. Once I did that I had hoped to see the ATI folder but still couldn’t. So, I made it “read only” again and then looked elsewhere. I ended up finding the ATI files in a “Dell” folder. > C: / Dell: ati files I haven’t deleted them yet as I wanted to reveal this to you first, then tried to complete the second suggestion.

Go to C:\Users\yourwindowsuser\AppData\Local You may be surprised by what I found in there! There are 7,310 Files, 3,776 Folders
I started to check each one (one by one) to see if that folder contained data - and if not - delete it. I then found I could use my mouse and click and drag to include many (100’s) at a time - check to see if they contained data - if not - delete. I went through all of them that had a “name” / description like this: 0001C9C1-7811-45D4-87F9-38C0622005CA - found them all empty and deleted them. Anyway - there were no ATI folders in there but I did find one inside the folder of the other “user” listed below and deleted that folder.
Now - as to where the ATI files and drivers are = I stumbled on them once while working earlier I think? but now I can’t find them again! I did delete the link for ATI catalyst so now I’m going to reboot to see what I’ve accomplished so far?
While working in the explorer environment I found no “uninstall” option. I have deleted all “ccc” files along with any “ATI” files. I just did a search for each and the results show 0 files. I just rebooted and tried SU with the same result. I’m not sure if I sent a report so I’ll attempt it again with a report.
BTW: I checked most of the files I had listed after the search for CCC and they were all associated with ATI so I felt safe to delete them all.
In a report I mentioned I removed SU and re-installed. Once I did that and tried opening the program I got the bug splat but DIDN’T get another SU screen that started to open but stalled. So, I then rebooted in safe mode and tried it in that enviironment. SU loaded and I had a workable screen. I then closed it again, rebooted and tried it again. Once I tried to open the program (after the intitial screen = choosing template) the SU screen appeared in the ujpper left half of my screen but stalled and soon the bug-splat appeared. Before I did a search in the forum for my dilemma and noticed others have had the same experience. One person suggested that it may be antivirus software causing it? . . . that the program is relatively new so this can happen? I don’t know if or not that is the case with mine but does SU have to “communicate” with the Sketchup program utilities online upon startup? It seems when my screen appears that it stalls as if it is searching for something? I may be way off but does it attempt to connect to a site or something? Thanks.
Su checks for updates on the internet if the check for up dates is selected in widows, preference .general, select automatic updates .
We know you can open su in the safe mode;
SU splats when you try to start it after windows start ok in the normal mode. The only clue we had was the splat report and it citing Aticfx64 as the cause. When you start using the F8 there is a possibility of having a boot log created while windows start. Comparing the boot log with the safe mode start and normal start could give you a clue.
However I am concerned there have been so many changes a clean start may not be possible.
You have the disk from DELL for driver and windows ( And the key). Do you have manuals or instructions explaining how to format drive, partition it , install OS and drivers. When you format the drive ALL data gets wipe clean which should include any virus. Using the disk for installing drivers should allow you to select only the ones you need.
The DELL site has all the manuals so if you do not have you should down load and print, they are pdf
Here is link on how to repair you win 7 installation Redirecting. You will then need to run the windows update.
I take it you believe I have specific window drivers and the like that are corrupted and that I may need to reformat and reinstall the op system? I hate to think it has come to this.
Yes and no. I have spent almost all after noon trying to find inffo related to the issue and have concluded what I thought was a artifact of ATI graphics driver issue may very well not plus here is what I found for the tag number and one of the manuals :
Discrete video type integrated on system board
Discrete video controller and memory ATI M92-LP 512 MB DDR3
ATI Park 1 GB DDR3
I have also found this in the DELL Technology Guide , but I am not sure yet it is applicable to you SKU version ( Remember my questions about that)
NVIDIA Enthusiast System Architecture (ESA) is a PC protocol for real-time
monitoring and control of computer’s thermal, electrical, acoustic and
operating characteristics The conclusion is because a name is ATI or NVidia does not mean it is a graphics driver.
The DELL manuals give you directions and I think it is necessary to get to known baseline and not rush to make changes until we under stand and try and limit to one at a time. The main issue I have is formatting drive because I doubt you have a virus but you could always do a good system scan. You need to down load the manuals if you do not have , read and understand. Using the concept of slow down and hurry up works many times.
Establishing a good base line then will support the trouble shooting steps if problem is still there.
If you are willing to make this step I write up step by step to help you.
I’ll certainly download the manual and any related material first. I really don’t want to go through a HD format and then all the loading to get it up and running again. Earlier in I went to control panel/ windows update and there were a couple files listed there = not display related. Anyhow I thought that at Dell support all available updates were available there but I guess not. Actually I have my windows set to check for updates daily adn have all along so that isn’t a problem. I’ll look for the necessary manuals online now. Thanks
It looks like the DELL disk you have will wipe the disk data. You do have some restore points around 3-11 mostly before all the deletions. That configuration maybe enough to allow TS to continue. Boot logging in safe mode vs normal start will allow you to make comparison and figure where problem is or boot logging with diagnostic start.
I’ll need to ask yoiu more questions about this but for now I’m just letting you know I have a dr. appt. and will be out for a few hours. I finally got my backup to work on one of my mem. sticks (had to reformat it!?) I was up itll 5 am doing that. TTYL
I may be able to restore things I removed since 3-11 but I’ve have never been able to open SU since I had the new hardrive installed so I doubt it will with restore??
Insofar as boot logging both in safe mode and reading logs from normal start I haven’t a clue right now how to go about that.
I downloaded the manuals for my computer and read through them all but not one of them gives me information like that you mentioned (boot logs, etc) = the manuals are more aboiut working in the windows environment with the utilities there but not in depth by any means. If there is a manual which would be more in depth I’d like to know how to go about obtaining it? If you could direct me to it in some way I’d appreciate it!
Yes I seem to know that , but hat has nothing to do whole idea to get back some type of reasonable base line to undo all the things done since then. Hopefully you can get on with some trouble shooting then…
Would you not reasonably think if you have a windows machine a lots of their suggestion would kind of be slated that way??. It may not restore with all the deletions you have done ,but you do not want to do a repair install, so this was my thought to try get you back to a reasonable configuration that is only other thing I can recommend.
Go to start , in search box type msconfig ( If that does not work dpo it via a command prompt) and that will bring up window close to what you see with F8. Select the help box may give you trouble shooting help, post back with results.
I want to ask this one question regarding getting my system back to a point before I deleted those files (BTW - I went to “restore” and the earliest date now shown is 4/5/15 I guess since I’ve loaded other things - no earlier date shown?).
I have System Restore discs I made. One was made a day when I first setup the computer for myself according to directions given me then, and the other System Restore disc was made 2/24/13. Would this not work to do what you want me to do insofar as getting the system back in it’s best operating order?
