Box is correct ref F8 so try again
I verified on my PC the OpenConfig tool does disable hardware acceleration for SU2015
Donn load and run the 3rd file, select su2015 and disable and leave accel disabled, close and restart SU and see if it runs

IMHO think you should do the safe node start per Boxes’ suggestion. The way your PC boots it first does the BIOS and then starts windows. You have to catch it in the boot process before windows start.
Go to start, select the arrow there on the restart button and then restart option. Your PC will turn off and then restart and may even show a quick splash screen as it runs the BIOS. Tap the F8 per instruction and it should the show the option screen for various modes to start .

I’ve tried F8 over and over again - both by pushing the key off and on before windows starts or holding it down steadily until windows begins to start and either way when windows begins to boot I get loud beeping (alarms) in the form a a warning I suspect. Not once have I got to select a boot option.

Is this the right software for changing the OpenGL ?
> OpenGL Config f. SketchUp®
I’ve ran the app several times with no “apparent” result

I finally was able to open in “save mode with Networking” AND I was able to open Sketchup!! Now - how do I go about changing the opengl settings within the program?

In the program I clicked on “windows” / Preferences - while in this dialog box I saw the option for “opengl settings” - clicked on that - in it I see the option for 3 settings (check boxes beside each)
first “hardware acceration”
next “use maximum texture size”
last “use fast feedback”
of the 3 - use fast feedback is checked

As for “hardware acceleration” - the box and text are blurred or grayed out I can not check nor alter that setting. That option is not available to me. Does this suggest that I was successful in disabling that with the “SU-OGL-CONFIG” tool?

Also - should I try “unchecking” - use fast feeback box?
Suggestions anyone?

Windows=>preferences=>openGL=> Deselect hardware accel , but if you ran the OpenGl config tool and it worked as planned it should already be off so some thing else maybe problem.
Oops you beat me to it.
OpenGL grayed out means the integrated graphics does not support.
No choice but to deselect fast feed back, leave max texture deselected.

Ok - I did that “deselect fast feedback” and now I’m going to reboot to see if SU will open. I hope this works? I’ll let you know and send a report should it not open again?
Thanks Mac

I sent a new bug splat report - details of how a box “unlabeled” started to open upper left of my screen and then if flashed off and the bug splat box appeared = sent report

I am skeptical the fast feed back caused the failure. I am also reluctant to suggest any thing further since MARC referred this issue to SU support( I am guessing that is Box) and do not want to undo anything they want done . I do have many concerns however.
I would suggest you wait to hear from them.
I do have couple questions
: Is your version of SU make still in the 30 day eval. period or are you running free??;
When you had the hard drive replaced did you have a CD of the OEM operating system etc. supplied originally by DEL which he used to install software to get PC up and running again.?

Mac,
I have the free version Su15 plus the comp tech who worked on my system and hd update used whatever software he had on site - I didn’t supply him with any CD’s

I just rebooted in “safe mode with networking” then opened SU. I then opened Window/Preferences/ Application (which is the top option within the box of options including “drawing”, “ext.”, “files”, “general”, “opengl”). I clicked on > “application” & I see an > empty box for “default imaging editor”. There is an option to “choose” from files. Should I “choose” my intel imaging editor driver so that SU will refer to it and save? I want to think that is right but I want to confer with someone who knows better than I? Thanks

Wow wonder about the pedigree of software installed and you wonder why PC is not working as before :cold_sweat:
Do you have any thing from DELL??

Just leave image editor blank you can worry about that later. The focus is to get point of SU working ok without all the “special” things you have to do.
I’llm get back in a few. Have some thoughts on info you should collect for Box/ MARC for when they come back.

Use the windows explorer and see if you can find where ati grahics driver was installed. It maybe in directory, if so take screen shot. We may want to remove all related files vs just the ati dll you removed.
In windows explorer do search on safe mode boot and that should bring up screens explaining what options you have to trouble shoot. Make copy for your use.

I am going to check. mac on a few of the things you mentioned,
Back now and I went to dell support and uploaded all the “recommended” patches and hardware. I also looked for any “ATI” SOFTWARE and found none that remains on my system. I ALSO ran my disc provided by dell beforehand that contained all my drivers and utilities again (wrote over existing), and followed that by going to Dell support as mentioned above. I should have everything up to date as far as I know.

I still have to boot in safe mode with networking in order to get in SU. openGL is turned off and I am “listening” for any advice. I was tempted to put my Intel HD image driver in the boc in “preferences”/ Application/ “default image editor” - but I’m waiting on any suggestion.

thanks, Bill

This is unrelated. it is asking for your preferred image editor, for example Photoshop or Corel draw or Inkscape etc. Leave it blank.

Not sure how you got that idea, I am simply a user.

Well - to me you are SU support  I see what you mean about leaving the image editor box blank and realize what it’s for.

When I say that now SU starts to open “in a smaller screen upper left” = I believe it is the SU attempting to open and I see a long narrow box too imbedded or on top of the SU page (smaller than screen). I relize it is the tools attempting to load with their alignment across the top of the SU screen. Could it be that loading the tools is a problem or just a symtom of the overall problem?

I went to windows explorer and did a driver search (ATI) as suggested and found just one ATI driver update which I had saved in a download file but had not run. However, in doing more “driver” searches I stumbled upon these 2 files. They involve "NVidia OpenGL drivers AND they are saved files concerning Sketchup timeout errors - posting screen capture of them below.

The date of this log is 4/3/15 at 1:30 pm = yesterday. Could it be that Sketchup is searching for these files? and if so by mistake or are they needed for SU ??

If you leave up to me I can find anything right or wrong. Thought I saw Trimble badge in profile

Just retired Electrical Engineer, no SU affilation

Doesn’t matter - you’ve been a lot of help to me.
