I’ve noticed that previous dotted lines drawn in older versions of Layout now appear as very short dashes & not dots. Has anyone else picked up on this? No big deal but dots are dots and I always label any demolished features in my drawings with ‘…..demolished shown red dot’
I haven’t noticed this in any of my LO files. Can you share an example? Is your graphics card information correct? Which graphics engine are you using?
Do the dotted lines look the same in an exported PDF file?
Hi Dave thanks for swift reply. I’ve attached a custom scrapbook created a few years ago and the original dotted lines are now small dashes, albeit very close to dots. Ive also attached a newly printed PDF. I have to print using Microsoft PDF Print because I have a long standing problem with SU export to PDF probably unique to my computer.

Do you still have LO2022 installed? I no longer do so can’t check this.
When I open a new file and draw lines, by default the end treatment of the stroke style is set to square so I get square dotted lines although when viewed normally it’s not evident they are square because they are so small. Setting the end treatment to rounded yields little short ovals. The rounding has always been added to the length of the line so the ovals make sense.

When you open your file in LO2022 does it show the lines with rounded ends or square?
I edited the lines in your file by selecting them all and changing the end treatment.
Yes, BDDesigns, I have noticed the same issue, it’s not just you.
Thanks Dave - that looks like a good workaround for those of us that are so fastidious. It seems to me rounded dots are now created by adding semi-circles to a square dot. I opened my layout scrapbook with LO 2024 (I skipped SU2025 because I find updating each year so traumatic) and you can see that the rounded dots, back then, were real dots - even the dash dots had real dots. Maybe I’m going dotty but I would prefer proper dots!

Round dots for dotted lines would be better than square ones.
This is stretching my poor memory but yes - strange things have been happening to dashes in recent versions of LayOut.
I used to make dotted lines by increasing the Pt size of the line and then changing the x1 dash spacing…it allowed some nice control over how the line looked.
A lot of Dotted lines now look wrong.
Whether it be circle dots, or square dots…I struggle to get the dashes/spaces how I like.
Sorry I cant more specific evidence but thanks for raising this issue…its real!
