This is driving me wild. I’ve used Sketchup on this PC for years and it’s been smooth as butter. ~6mths ago, ~70% of then time when I’d do something, like select a line, or change the model in some way the image on my screen doesn’t reflect that I did anything until I move the camera a little or change the zoom level. As you can imagine this makes doing things very painful as every single action I take I then need to wiggle the camera or zoom in a touch to see if I actually did select the right line, or that thing I moved did go where I expected etc.
I can’t link it to any change on my computer (hardware hasn’t changed) and worst of all, it was happening on Windows 10, I completely reloaded my PC with Win11 and everything was fine for a few weeks (maybe even months) but the issue has now returned.
Yet, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER was released on January 24, 2024 . This was 3 years after SketchUp 2021 was released, so it is likely that version was not tested with this card.
What changed about 6 months ago?
Did you update the driver? Have you updated the driver direct from Nvidia since?
Do you have very high anti-aliasing set?
Are you using dedicated modeling scene page with a fast style to make edits?
Do you see this slow down with all models, or just certain models?
P.S. - Nothing is going to be done for SketchUp 2021 as it is now unsupported. (Trimble only supports the 3 latest versions and only makes updates to the latest version which is 2026. So even 2023 would be unsupported.)
With your super nice graphics card you should test out the latest version(s) and the new DirectX graphics engine that natively supports Ambient Occlusion and Physically Based Rendering materials with environmental reflections.
