Disable automatic formula calculations?

When I type in a scale for a drawing in Layout in a text field, 1/X"=Y’-0", I’m finding that the formula 1/X"= immediately calculates the decimal conversion. Example: 1/16"=0.0625", when what I need to communicate is 1/16"=1’-0". It gets in the way when I’m trying to fill in a titleblock or adding a scale to a specific drawing.

I realize that MacOS Tahoe also does this, but it doesn’t always kick in (it didn’t in this message). I don’t wish to completely disable predictive replacements globablly. I can’t tell whether this is a Layout or a MacOS “feature”.

Is anyone else encountering this or have workarounds?

FYI, I did ask ChatGPT first which is why I’m bringing it up here to see if a human has any insight.

LayOut is definitely not doing this on its own, but it does currently use macOS cocoa controls for things like text input. My guess is that macOS is doing this for us to be “helpful”. I don’t have a current workaround for you, unfortunately. Maybe type the text in some other text application then copy/paste it into LayOut.
