Detach certain parts from a Model

I wanted to detach the body from the legs is there any way to do that? This isn’t my model but one from 3D warehouse.

Turn on ‘Hidden Geometry’, select the green part, make it a group.

Looks like you have dividing lines between the different colors. The other way I might suggest doing this, without turning on hidden geometry, try double clicking on the surface color you want to separate out. If it selects, for example, just the pants, press G to make it a component, or r-click it after its selected and make it a group. See if you can isolate the geometry like that and then report back some results!

I think I’d have to do it the way mihai suggested since when I click on just the pants the whole thing highlights, thank you though.

Oh I didn’t know that alright thank you.

Ah, bummer, i was really hoping the division line wrapped the object. In that case, yes Mihai.s suggested method is your best option

Right click on a triangle with the desired color, Select > All with same material, then Edit > Make Group. That’s it!

If it’s baked material, you’ll probably need to select either the dividing edges between the colors, or the colored triangles you need.
