I’m having a issue trying to design the platform section for a blanket chest. I’m trying to have the platform with arch legs, and the lenght and with of the parts joined with miters. The long narrow piece is my attempt to to the front rail of the platform. If you turn the piece so you can see the bottom, you’ll the face is missing in a few places. I can’t figure how to draw a face there.

You need to pay attention to the the shape of the arcs. Don’t let the arc rise above the horizontal. Draw the shape of the opening and use Push/Pull to push away the waste.

I’m sorry but i’m missing one of the steps you take. After you do the push pull, you go to a tool (I think) and select it. It happens so fast I can’t see what you’re selecting. please let me know what you’re selecting. Thanks

I just hit the Spacebar to get the Select tool so I could select all of the geometry and then soften/smooth the edges. Then I turned of the Hidden Geometry with a keyboard shortcut.

Thank you very much you brightened up my Sunday. Completed the skirt drawing. I’m kinda of new with sketchup, mostly self taught.. Mostly have been doing straight forward angular things. This is my first push of myself outside of my comfort zone to do curves. Also, hidden geometry and softened/smooth edges is new to me. Will have to look up and read about it . thanks
