Dani’s SketchBook

I laughed… loud.

I do too which is why I don’t know why I’ve dealt with a slightly crooked riving knife by pushing slightly harder.

I’ve got a handy little miter saw that’s perfect for grilling!

Yeah, my older brother is a professional carpenter who put his left hand into a table saw when a piece bucked back at him. Luckily, the property owner was a doctor who knew the best hand surgeons in the Boston area and called ahead to make arrangements. He has amazing use of that hand today, all things considered.

What part?

Skowhegan… Central.

I’ve never had a saw injury, but I’ve had more than one hire or coworker who had a horror story or two. Also, one of the minions about a year ago tripped that shop’s sawstop which put me on edge for a week because that’s what happens to me when I’m in charge during ‘danger’. I was surprised by how relatively quiet it was. In fact, the minion looked up shocked and said “the blade’s gone…”. He didn’t even realize what he’d done.

Further inland than I’ve been, though only about half an hour north east of the project I measured with my iPad. In the '80’s while working at Centerbrook, I worked on Colby College’s student union building in Waterville. Pre CAD days then; all hand drawn. I never got there in person to see the finished building.

I’m in Waterville almost every other day.

I am now printing in-scale directly from my ipad, using only SketchUp for iPad and a $20 program called Procreate. (( Also a regular HP printer, but that feels like a given. ))

This will be a part of my presentation at Basecamp this year if I get off my rear and finish my submission.

Procreate is great. I was hoping J. J. Zanetta would be back with more Procreate sessions, but I don’t see him listed. James Akers is back though. Ugh, I can’t attend your session because that’s the same time slot I present as well!
