Hi, I have tried several way to perform what seems like a relatively simple task, however I am not having any joy.
I have modelled a component and arrayed it along a spline, then created a group of the arrayed components (slats). I Then have a solid group that I am trying to trim with. In essence, I want to be left with the slats that are currently covered by the large group surface, leaving me with curved flowing slats (as if they’ve been cut with a jigsaw.
I have attached 2 images below to help explain. Any speedy help would be greatly apreciated. Thanks!
SHare the .skp file so we can see the exact set up.
If I understand it correctly you need to either explode the top level group for the slats or cut and paste the cutter volume into the top level group so the slats and the cutter are in the same context. Then, presuming the slats and the cutter volume are solids, you can use Trim from the Solid Tools to trim the slats with the cutter.
Do you need the slats as individual objects? If you were to explode the slat components within the top level group you could trim them all in a single operation.
So do what I suggested. cut the cutter volume and paste it in place inside the slat group. Then use it to trim each of the slat components. I did a few of them here.
