Ctrl+ x crash

when i click ctrl+x to cut something the whole program crashes

What operating system are you using? “d” does not identify an operating system. What graphics card? “f” is not a graphics card. What are you cutting in the model? Are you using a cr acked version of SketchUp?

Also, this is a silent crash, no bug splat

I’m not having any crashes silent or otherwise with SketchUp 2025. Have you tried updating to the current version?

Hi Dave,

I replied with all specs but the reply is waiting on admin approval

Hi Joshua,

That’s weird. Where did you reply? I wonder what you put in the reply that requires admin approval.

FWIW, if you aren’t still using SketchUp 2023 you could update your forum profile by clicking on your avatar at the top right of the forum screen and then the person icon followed by Preferences and Profile. After you make the corrections remember to scroll down and hit Save.

Yeah, who knows what is in there that needs approval. Literally the version of sketchup I’m using and computer spec junk. I’m sure there’s some word that catches a flag. I’ll take the minute to get beyond 23 on my profile

I have been having the same problem lately, not every time I cut, but often enough. Not cracked, long time subscriber.

Win 11 pro
SU V 25.0.575 64bit
RTX 3070 - 8gb
RAM - 96Gb
12th gen i7 3.6Ghz

I see the word that tripped you up. I wasn’t expecting you were using a cr acked version.

When you installed SU2025, did you right click on the installer and choose Run as administrator?

Sure did. I have not done that one a good handful too many times, LOL. I would totally do a re-install with the right click if you think it would matter, but I kinda doubt it. And, I’ll avoid Cr words, for a while.

I’m not sure if it would help but it sure wouldn’t hurt. Just a repair after right click and Run as administrator.

How much stuff are you cutting to the clipboard when it crashes?

LOL!

A ton, of course. Could be a bottleneck in RAM, I’m almost never short on RAM, but it’s possible that there are a number of hard faults. I’ve never run resource monitor while cutting and crashing.

Maybe it is a RAM issue. Did you install the new patch for SU2025 yet (remembering to right click on the installer and select Run as administrator)?

I tried resource monitor, and I didn’t come close on filling up ram nor any significant bump in hard faults, but I did get a crash to happen.

I’ll check to see if my current install is the most recent, and will run a repair either way.

The patch was just released yesterday and announced officially a few minutes ago.

Good luck.

Do you ever get Bug Splats when it crashes? Do you send them in with something to identify they came from you?

New patch installed, cut a bunch of stuff that definitely would have crashed. It didn’t. Fluke, maybe, but maybe it was a fix!

No bug splats on that particular problem. I do usually comment what I am doing when I get a splat, and also click the allow to share info (or whatever it actually says) button.

Or the phase of the moon or the way you’re holding your tongue?

Hopefully it’s fixed now. Time to quit for the night. Get out north of the city tonight and look for the Aurora.
