Creating organic curves and using follow me

Consider this marked curve, its in and out, like some places its nearer to wall and at some places its far from wall, and height wise it starts at 3’ goes up to give and then again at 3 feet it turns into a bow shape under the table .

Problem 1)
how to create this type of path in sketchup , i was able to do height variation easily but how go to do width variation ? I hope you get my point that this is an organic shaped hanging rod , width wise against wall should be same as plan and height wise as i have shown in elevation

Problem 2?
Follow me command does not follow the bow easily. How can i make bow intersection as two seperate lines ?

Please guide its very urgent,

Depending on the curve you might want to use something like Fredo Spline or Bezier Spline (both from Sketchucation) to draw the curve. You might need to create some guide geometry to help you place control points. Also might be possible to draw a plan view and an elevation view of the curve and intersect them to get what you need.

I would look at an extension called Upright Extruder from the Extension Warehouse.

You will have to use something like the extension @DaveR suggested to prevent the shape from twisting as it extrudes along a non-planar path. The built-in method used by follow me uses physics-based notions that force the twist.

Yes the first step is making the right curve in 3D , i tried but ending up making a straight curve which looks very deviated on plan. What should i do
