Cotty's 3D printing adventures

I have a very bright torch. To use it as a signal light (e. g. in the car), I printed an orange cap. When you activate the strobe light, it’s practically impossible to look at, impossible to miss…

We have a tabletop fire that burns bioethanol, but refilling it from the bottle is always awkward and you spill a lot. Now you can fill it precisely, printed from TPU.

The approximately 30 types of tea in the drawer at work are stored in several layers in the original boxes, so that you cannot see the available varieties from above or refill them appropriately. As I often found myself getting annoyed when searching for ‘my’ variety, I designed new boxes:

  • that make better use of the space in the drawer
  • that offer a dedicated box for each type of tea
  • whose labels can be read from above
  • that offer enough space for more than one original box

I’m getting there. I ordered a printer, and it’s supposed to come on Monday.

What did you order?

The mid sized Creality K2 Pro basic (i.e. without the multicolor printing accessory – it could always be added later). The smallest one has a very attractive price, but it doesn’t have ethernet, and how soon will I regret not having a bigger printing bed? The biggest one had a bigger discount, but it seemed a bit over the top for me to buy as a first printer. The base, middle one seemed a good all around choice.

P.S. I just checked, and the Christmas discounts are gone now – all back to full price now.

A few spider plants at work have developed offshoots, which I harvested and placed in a few rock wool cubes from the greenhouse. The cubes now have a nice holder…

I took a few microscope photos of a 3D print (0,4 mm nozzle, smooth build plate). It’s impressive how good printers have become these days…

Very cool!

Yes, very cool. What was the magnification?

cool plate ?

I switched to a panda cryo, and the first layer is more visible, like yours, it’s really pretty

The usb-microscope is labelled 50–1000x with 4k, but I have no idea what setting I had it on

I’ve had it for a while, but I had to tidy up a bit before I rediscovered it in a drawer.:face_with_peeking_eye:

I had to design an updated version because the insert fit so well that it was difficult to remove and broke off. Now there is a suitable surface to grip…

My brother-in-law wanted to build a Lego crane with his grandson, but apparently the connectors were left out of the box. A few measurements with the calliper later, and playtime can begin…
