Corrupted .skp and .skb after Studio upgrade — recovery help

I just upgraded to studio which is great except it seems one of my files didn’t survive the upgrade. I’m getting “Failed to open Document” from the backupfile (when i’ve changed the extension to .skp), and a “unexpected file format” from the original .skp file, both of which I’ve copied to my downloads folder. I’ve searched without luck for any other backup files. @colin do you have any suggestions on if there is an easy solution?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Best,

hey, you’ve pinged Colin, good, I don’t see empty chunks in the code, the end looks bad.

you’ve copied them to your download folder… where were they initially ?

if you to the preference panel, then files, you’ll see the default path of your files.
do you see any mention of onedrive in any of the path ? (even if you don(t actively use it, it’s here by default on win11 now)

Originally it they were in my google drive folder, I wasn’t sure if that was causing issues so I moved it onto my hard drive. I’ve worked out of loads of much bigger files that were in the drive so I’m guessing that alone wasn’t the issue, but I’ve been wrong before  I checked and I’m not seeing any evidence it was ever on my onedrive. Thanks!

Saving directly to online services has often caused file corruption problems.

As an aside, it is not a good idea to use reserved characters like “&” in file names.

That’s great to know, I’ll definitely avoid those going forward!
