SketchUp crashed while saving my model. After restarting, the file exists and is 23 MB, but SketchUp shows the error “File not found or invalid” when opening.
What I have already tried:
• Opening the original .skp
• Renaming .tmp / autosave files to .skp
• Importing into a new SketchUp file
• Opening in the same SketchUp version again
None of the above worked.
The file size suggests the geometry should still be present.
Could someone please try geometry recovery or header reconstruction if possible?
The ZIP file appears to be an invalid file, too. The 1.2 Kb file size is a good indication there’s a problem. Try again. Or upload the .skp file to DropBox and share the link.
Where are you saving the file while working on it? Are you using a cr acked version of SketchUp? Did you experience a power failure while working on it?
Well, the .skp file is nothing but zeroes now and the .skb file is about 75% zeroes. There’s absolutely nothing to recover from either file. The power failure is likely the reason. You should be careful to keep your laptop connected to mains power any time you can.
