Connect to Trimble Connect?

I can still open the old Trimble Connect extension, but it seems it does not work anymore, it closes if I try to import a file.

There’s a new version build right into sketchup, but it does not take me to my projects site that I have on the web, and it seems you cannot really click on anything?

do you have a vpn or anything like that ?

now that trimble connect is integrated in SU, you can (and should?) remove the old extension.

there’s no vpn.

I fiddled a bit more with the thing now, and after choosing “Launch Trimble Connect” to open the web version in a browser, I can afterwards choose Open with Trimble Connect. Or maybe some other random fiddling did it.

Maybe complaining in the forum was the magic trick

or rather: some more complaining might fix it: I try to select an ifc, and it opens, but nothing is placed. After “SELECT ALL”, there’s still only one component in the drawing, the original scale figure.

is this only for sketchup models now?

I’ll be frank, I don’t use TC.

however, what you’re describing sounds familiar, I think I’ve read a similar issue, someone complaining that the embedded solution couldn’t open certain files and someone else answering that the old extension still could for now, and that’s why they were keeping it.

it’s vague, I know, it’s not a vital info in my brain, more like “oh yeah, it sounds familiar”

any frequent TC user around maybe ?

One cannot open other fileformats other than .skp, you need to use the collaboration dialog of the old extension and use ‘visual reference’.
It would then use the regular importers to import the file.

ok. thanks, folks.

Fwiw, the new built in Trimble connect uses a different ‘cache’ mechanisme in the %localappdata% then the extensions. For the extension to work, one needs to publish it once.
Then, both direct/point to the same file in the Trimble cloud.
