It would also be helpful to extract text object counts to build schedules more easily.

You can do the first with auto text, no?
I often have notes like ‘Post Bottom Typ. 1, Connection TBD by Engineer’ - then come back later and update the auto text when I coordinate with my PE.
The second, yes, that would be nice, but I often have text left on every page, for use I just drag it over where I need it and change the layer… so for me I’d get weird counts.
Can’t you extract the schedule from the model, where I assume the door count would be accurate (if you made individual components as needed, and updated their names / etc.)

I am sure I could make something like this using autotext… I hadn’t considered that before*
I would need to mess around with it a bit to get what i want out of it I think and I am not sure it would work as a scrapbook element, which I would also like to have as an option

We typically pull from the scrap book so there aren’t often many remnants laying around in the margin for our workflow. Overall I just have an issue with the general lack of BIM outputs in SketchUp. Although I have some ideas, I just don’t really have the time to investigate properly

Name the components per the manufacturers model or whatever you need in the drawings. You can also likely add data via a dynamic component.
I have a dedicated list plugging for extracting timber / framing piece count and sizes out of a model - but I often use it to just get dumb counts for windows, doors, etc.
While waiting for new feature, you can import a SketchUp file with 3D text. It will work as a component. If you want to update component, just open SketchUp to edit then update changes in LayOut.
