Component management

i am new to SketchUp & taking the (terrific) Dave Richards course, SketchUp for woodworking. In the process of learning i have revised certain components and still have the older versions

is there a way to get rid of these? “purge components not in the model” is grayed out.

thanks

When Purge Unused is grayed out in the Components panel that means all of the component definitions shown in the In Model components are used at least once in the model space. If you know there are some that you no longer want you can right click on the component thumbnail and select Delete. It will warn you that this will delete all instances of the component in the model.

Another thing you might try is right click on the thumbnail and then choose Select Instances. That will highlight them in the model space. At that point you can decided what to do with them. If you don’t want them, press the Delete key or right click on the thumbnail again and choose Delete.

These things only work in the current context so if you have nested components, components collected into a larger component, you would need to open the top level component to get them to select.

If you can identify the unwanted components by their names you could look for them in Outliner. There you can select and delete them or do whatever you need.

Thank you!
