@PaulMcAlenan Are you aware you can share a public link that doesn’t require the client to create a Trimble ID account? You set the file to “Anyone with the link: view model”
Of course that won’t help if you have some sensitive data in there as anybody has access to it.
I did try that with a previous client recently with some frustration (email troubleshooting again!) but maybe that was because I was trying out collaboration for the first time.
Just had this situation also, the answer seems to be no. The link that allows them to see scenes doesn’t allow them to orbit or measure…. I don’t understand the logic .
That’s what I was expecting for scenes from other users. What happens if you hit Escape? You should still be able to orbit, zoom, and pan from a scene, right?
When I click on your link I am only able to see the scenes. No orbiting or measuring.
But when I clicked the link I sent to my client I saw the scenes tab on the left of the screen like in your screen shot. and I could still measure and orbit the model or look at individual scenes using the tab
Hmm… The other day I was working with a student and had her send me a link. I could switch back and forth between seeing the scenes as shown in Paul’s screenshot and having the tools as I showed for measuring and orbiting. Escape would drop out of the scenes only view.
They say that they get as far as selecting UK … And then after clicking UK it goes back to entering the email saying user does not exist.
Hi, I’m a developer working on some of the collaboration features in SketchUp. I am just guessing here, but perhaps the client is seeing this warning saying “this email already exists”? This will happen if they “Continue with Google/Apple/Microsoft” and then try to create an account later. Once you log in with another auth provider you cannot use the same email to create a separate account authenticated by Trimble.
Sorry, that does sound frustrating. Again, I am guessing here, but perhaps you changed the General Access setting after sharing a link with your client? There is a limitation with the General Access setting that disabling it will invalidate old links which you have shared. You cannot make these links work again by enabling General Access.
This is a security precaution in case you share a link with someone you did not intend to or your recipient shares it with someone you did not intend to have access. For example, if you share with a client and they post the link on social media.
Yes, the View Model mode is the “higher” permission. You can view scenes (including slideshow mode) with the View Model permission but you cannot orbit or pan with the View Scenes permission.
