Classic license won't load on second computer

I have Sketchup pro 2021 Which worked fine on two Macs. I retired the second computer after clearing the drive but I can’t successfully load the license on my new second computer, message says the sketchup pro license has been used on too many computers. I contacted sketchup but they didn’t respond. Any ideas?

Thanks

Joe

Did you remove the SketchUp license from the machine you retired?

you can go to the account management portal and reset all devices, then re-add each that you want. I have been testing a plug in on old and new machines and ran into this a few times.

At the bottom of the Acounts portal is “My Products” click that. Then in the “SketchUp for Desktop” card is “Reset Authorization” click that. Then you should be able to add the “new” second machine. Otherwise @colin has been very helpful with this type of issue for me.

No, I guess I should have. I just emptied the hard drive.

Yeah. Removing the license would be critical in a case like this. Technically since you are out of support the folks at SketchUp can’t/won’t do anything for you but it’s possible that @colin would take pity on you and he may be able to do something to help. I can’t promise anything but he’s the most likely to be able to do something for you.

Hi Mark,

I followed your instructions, but when I reach the ‘my products’ page, there is only a screen shot of the cards, no clickable link. All the options on the left column send me in circles. I sent a message to Colin but haven’t heard back.

thanks

hey Joe,

It was a few clicks back and forth for me as well. Having tried it a few times with varying degrees of success, this was the latest process that seemed to work for me:

Open SketchUp on a system that you can. In SketchUp log out of your account from within the app. And close it. Then log into Admin Console. Look for Products & License on the left, click that.

Then scroll down to the My products Card and the link looks like text but its underlined (at least on mine it is) click that.

Then that screen “My Products” was the screen shot i posted previously that has “Reset Authorized Devises” link.

I am a user in my company not admin, if you are the sole owner you may have a different admin console, but these were the steps I took to be able to authorize a new device and other devices I normally use that had to be re-authorized as well as I would expect. I have 2 pc’s and 2 macs, but only ever can use one at a time. When I plan to be using a different device I try to log out from the device before I shut it down.

Hope this helps
