Changing the color of lines

Hi all –

I am working on a project where students design structures in SketchUp and then create nets of the structures also in SketchUp. We 3D print the structures and want to laser cut the nets. I am looking for a way for students to color some of the lines in their nets so that the laser cutter reads them as score lines not cut lines. I found some suggestions, but all seem to rely on options not available in the schools version.

Thanks!

Can you Edit the style in SUfS, if you can get to this menu change All Same to By material. Then you can paint them.

Thanks so much! I hadn’t realized you could paint just a line!!

the method many use is to group the edges in their ‘types’ >> assign each group to a layer with the needed color and use ‘color by layer’ for exporting…

for basic machines…

red for outlines, green for etching and grey for notes, datum, scale, etc…

grey is used to accommodate both black or white backgrounds on the receivers monitor…

I generally request a sample file from the machine and replicate it’s colour/layer structure…

they do vary…
