Thank you, Dave.
I’ve always worked directly from Dropbox with no problem, but this has happened recently. I will follow your advice.
In any case, what does it mean what was posted previously as an answer: “If I first close the C++ application then I do not get exceptions.”?
Thank you.
Chris
It sounds like you’ve been lucky. You should buy some lottery tickets. The reason for the advice to not work on files saved directly to the cloud comes from the experience of many users who have wound up with corrupted files. This seems to stem from connection problems during saves and/or auto saves. In many cases the files wind up containing nithing but zeroes. If you need evidence you can search the forum for ‘zeroes’.
I don’t know where you found that. There have been other instances of the CfileException0 message when saving to an internal drive. I used to get that message when I was using Kerkythea for rendering. In that case it appeared Kerkythea was causing the problem but closing Kerkythea first prevented it. In those cases where I went ahead with the save I just got a newer SketchUp file with a 0 at the end of the file name. I don’t know if that ever got resolved with Kerkythea. I haven’t used it for several years now.
Dave,
When I need to work on an SU file that is in Dropbox, I will move it to my desktop, and when I finish, I can put it back in Dropbox. Would that work?
Thank you.
Chris
Questions:
1- A project saved in my computer or Dropbox and the same project saved in Trimble Connect are not linked. Are they? I mean, whenever a change is made on my computer, Trimble Connect is not updated. Is it?
2- What is Trimble Connect asking here? See attachment.
If you have saved to the internal drive and to Trimble Connect, File>Save will save to the internal drive, File>Trimble Connect>Save to Trimble Connect will save it to Trimble Connect.
You do have a current SketchUp Pro subscription, right?
No matter the application, I wouldn’t work on any file saved directly to DropBox or other cloud location.
