I received a SketchUp file from a client, but when I open it, there’s no model visible — only some values appear. However, when my client opens the same file on his computer, it works perfectly fine.
He shared the file with me over WhatsApp, which is how I usually receive SketchUp files without any issues — this is the first time I’m facing this problem.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
You might be zoomed out somewhere behind the moon. Try removing the two text objects visible on your screen and then Zooming to Extents. Or open the Outliner, select something there, right-click and select “Zoom selection” from the popup menu. Or post the model to get more informed guesses.
The symptoms you describe, notably the text objects visible when all else is not, occur when the camera is set to parallel projection and has moved very far from the model. Due to how it works, parallel is vulnerable to this flaw, which can be triggered in various ways. That’s a reason to always create the model in perspective projection and limit parallel to documentation views once it is finished.
If the techniques @Anssi suggested don’t bring the camera back to sanity, share the model here and I’m sure we can repair it for you. There are flaws that can make it seem like all is well, only to have the camera roar off to outer space again later unless they are repaired.
I have checked everything, I’m not that expert but I will let you guys take a look

Did you start with some sort of CAD import for your 2D Plan?
I’ve seen a lot of balled up models in the past but I think these are the most balled up ever. Not sure how they got to this point but I’m thinking the smart time investment would be to start over.
In both of the files there is a leader text entity at a great distance from the rest of the model relative to the size of things. You can see it way over on the right here.
Usually deleting those distant text entities helps to fix things but not in this case.
I notice that in neither model do you have any groups or components. You should take some time to learn about using groups and components and put them to work.
I was able to open both files with SU 2022.
I deleted the Text Entity reading as 690 in the 3D model.
I also got rid of any extra geometry by following this procedure:
1 - Select All;
2 - Press and hold the Shift key to Add/Subtract from the selection;
3 - While stil pressing the Shift key, I did a left to right Window Select to deselect the model. This kept only the required part of the model.
4 - I pressed the Delete key to get rid of anything that might still be selected.
Here are the 2 resulting files:
