Can't install due to Error -43. Help?

Hi there! Not sure if this is the right place to post about this but I really need some help, and support here is hard to find so I’m hoping that resorting to this forum will help me solve my issue. So, here it is: I need to download sketchup to view and modify sketches made last year by me colleague, who is no longer with our company. When I first downloaded the program to my Mac I downloaded the 2018 Pro version by accident, not realizing I had to pay. So I uninstalled it (or I think I did, I followed several uninstall tutorials in order to do so) and attempted to install the 2017 version, “make”. However, every time I drag the Sketch up logo into the applications folder when prompted to do so I notice a few things: a.) the installer that comes up on my desktop actually says 2018, not 2017 like the file says on my downloads; and b.) this message appears: The operation can’t be completed because one or more required items can’t be found.
(Error code -43). I’ve tried several fixes I found online and nothing seems to work. I’ve also attempted to send a message to support. Help?

Restart the Mac, empty trash, get the download .dmg at the right place::
And reinstall. Do not follow ‘uninstall’ tutorials if you do not know what you are doing.
FYI: If you just needed to inspect some files of your ‘lost’ collegue, you could just have installed 2018, for it has a 30-day trial. Your company should have a License somewhere for it is against the Eula to use SketchUp commercially.

This worked! Thank you SO much Mike!

Hello Vicky Alvarez (@vkevix),

Welcome to the SketchUp Community Forum. As @MikeWayzovski pointed out, using Make in a professional or corporate setting violates the Terms of Service for the use of this software and the Pro version is required. Please confirm your type of license to ensure your continued eligibility to use the program.

You should also be aware that the support team usually does NOT render assistance to non Pro users, however, the overwhelming majority of SketchUppers consistently rely on the information presented in this Forum to resolve issues they encounter in usiing the program.

Depending on your type of license, e.g. Individual or Network, you may be able to use your company’s existing Pro license and authorization code. Individual licenses can be applied to two computers provided that these machines do not access the license at the same time. This allows users to have SketchUp Pro on a computer at home and use the same license on a computer at work. Network licenses are usable on a finite number of computers using the same internet connection and there is no limitation on when this license may be put to use.

don’t forget there is also SketchUp Viewer…

2.2.2. SketchUp Pro, SketchUp Viewer

SketchUp Pro and SketchUp Viewer Software may be used for commercial purposes in accordance with the terms of this Agreement.
