Have you thought about trying to draw that line within the group?
Nope, had I thought of that I probably wouldn’t have posted here. However I didn’t create any groups in this sketch - or are they auto created?
They are not auto created. Either you made a group or a component to contain that geometry and in order to modify it you have to open it for editing.
Yes, I asked so I could understand why you were asking since you knew you had to double click to open the group for editing (PushPull the face). Watch the tutorials on the basics of SketchUp that will help you understand how it works.
Thanks! Double-click worked, I knew the solution would be painfully simple.
Correct, I made components. Stil haven’t understood the purpose of groups tbh
Groups are similar to components in that they provide separation between hunks of geometry. They differ in that when they are created you aren’t prompted to give the group a name (you can if you want but you have to go into Entity Info to add it) and for many users they work well when they don’t care about naming them. It can be seen as faster. Another difference between components and groups is that if you have multiple instances (copies) of a component, editing one edits the others. If you make multiple copies of a group and then edit one, the other copies are not affected. Some users prefer to make groups to start and then convert to components if they are going to make copies and expect to edit them (if they remember to do it).
Personally I only use components. It’s a consistent workflow for me and I have never found any advantages to using groups. But, I’m not telling you to do that. When I do suggest using only components some users get their knickers in a twist and become pretty animated. So you do what makes sense to you.
BTW, your profile is confusing as there is no SketchUp Classic license for the web version. Are you using SketchUp Free or SketchUp Go? That makes a difference because it tells us what tools you have available. Please correct your profile. Thanks.
