Cannot sign on to Sketchup any more

I use SU Desktop 2025, Windows 10 Pro on a Dell machine.
56 GB RAM

Recently off SU for about 6 months, long time user for residential design.
Think I have followed all the protocols, also set Chrome as default browser, closed all previous versions of SketchUp, etc.

What else should I be doing? Lost in a cloud of smoke… All help accepted.

what does it tell you ? is there an error message ?

also, you should probably edit your message and remove the image. you’re displaying your device and product ID.

Closing or even deinstalling the older versions does not deactivate or remove the activation automatically, this must be done inside the actual application itself in order to ping the Trimble servers to notify.
You can ‘deauthorize all’ devices on which you have one though (search deauthorize)
Once this is done, one needs to sign out and back in, of course to notify the servers which version you would like to activate currently.

même problème. après avoir téléchargé SKETCHUP PRO 2025, j’ai installé l’exe en tant qu’administrateur, mais rien ne se passe. le message: nombre de licences dépassé

A few versions ago something was added to the Windows installers. When installing you may notice the command prompt window appear briefly. That is the installer attempting to sign you out from that version of SketchUp.

Colin, not to be rude, but how does that help?
What do I need to do that will allow me to run SU?
Thanks,

Jack,
so I believe I have done what you suggested, still no joy.

I was only replying to Mike’s statement that even uninstalling a version of SketchUp doesn’t sign you out. For a few versions it has signed you out.

Will it help to uninstall and reinstall?

What happens when you start an older installed version?
If it doesn’t prompt you to sign in, the deactivation has not worked, yet. Be sure to have followed the whole process.
Also, there might be installations on other machines active, be sure to have them deactivated by signing out in the application as well.
If all fails, you might want to try deleting the login_session.dat file in the %AppData%\SketchUp\Sketchup 202x folder

I used to use a laptop for access some versions back, so will go & deactivated them. Thanks for the lead.

Please use only one profile to ask questions on the forum. 6 months from now we will be seeing a post from Gerry3 wondering why he can’t login to his old forum profile.

sorry, my mistake

when and why do I need to re-sign into sketchup? I use the same computer and it randomly asks me to sign in twice before using. why does this happen and when should i expect this?

IIRC every ~28 days SKP pings the license server.

Authentication, according to my research, depends on the following (in this exact order):

  • Have I bought beer in the past few days,
  • the moon phase,
  • how I hold my mouth,
  • which finger I press the Enter key with.

:joy:
