Cannot open Sketchup file due to Alias problem

Hi all, I’m using Sketchup2025 on my macbook and I can’t open a file that I closed last night. I remembered that I saved it and I closed Sketchup but this morning I can’t seem to open the file. The icon for the file is just a white blank document instead of the logo for Sketchup files, and when I try to click on it, it says that the “The alias “Lobby clean.skp” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found.”

I really need help on how to open it, as I have to submit this file by tonight. I tried looking for the file everywhere but I can’t find it using finder. Many thanks to whoever replies

Where did you save it, in your local drive or a cloud service?

I saved it normally in my folder for Sketchup works

Are you trying to open it from the welcome screen or from the folder where you saved it?
Can you share a screenshot and the file?

It’s not letting me share the file here or open it in the Welcome screen of Sketchup

The file is too big to post here on the forum. Upload it to a file sharing service like dropbox and post the sharing link here. Don’t forget to make the file public so we can access it.

You said you closed the file last night, but it says that the last time it was opened was on Wednesday. You probably saved it on another location without realizing it.

Thanks everyone for your help, I’ve decided to give up on restoring the file and will just be redoing it instead as I don’t have enough time to risk restoring it
